STEP Tree Planting – 31 October 2009

The next planting a tree day on the STEP site will be Saturday 31 Oct from 8 am till 3pm. STEP cordially invites Friends of the Arboretum to join us. This special day will include a media event at 10.00 am. Dr Maxine Cooper, the Commissioner for the Environment and Sustainability with her Youth Ambassadors will arrive to join us in our planting activity. The media will be invited by the Office of the Commissioner. It would be wonderful to have a large group to welcome them.

STEP is hoping to plant, mulch and place tree guards for 100 trees. Lunch will be provided. The provenance for the tree and the name of the person who planted it will be recorded for botanical and historical purposes.

Depending on weather conditions, we may finish earlier than 3pm – if it is too hot. Whatever happens we plan to have a merry lunch together. We will finish after lunch if the day is too hot. (We will have to play this by ear.) Please send an email to limestone@grapevine.com.au if you will be joining us so we can cater for lunch and morning tea etc. If you are coming, please bring a mug for tea, drinking water, hats, gloves, a small shovel, a rake for spreading mulch and a watering can.

We will meet at the front gate at 8.am. If you are late, please phone 0405 623 802 (Cathy Robertson) and leave a message. Someone will come to meet you at the gate.
